This conclusion to our updated version of the masque adapted its treatment of the story to suit our student audiences at "Cal" by evoking a graduating day speech by the Chancellor. The speech was derived from Milton's own pamphlet "On Education" which seems surprisingly close to the opinions of Comus in judging conventional academic practices both then and now.
