A Mask Presented at Ludlow Castle honored the first visit of John Egerton, Earl of Bridgewater to Ludlow Castle in Shropshire, performed on Michaelmas night: September 29, 1634. In 1631 Egerton was made Lord President of Wales and Lord Lieutenant of Wales and the Marches of Herefordshire, Monmouthshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire. In 1634 he finally arrived in Ludlow, where his administration was based.
