Andrew Marvell (1621-78) was a skilled politician and is credited with saving Milton's life from revengeful Royalists after the Restoration. Though a Puritan, Marvell disapproved of civil war, like Shakespeare, and he supported the Restoration of the Stuart Monarchy. This statue stands at Kingston-on-Hull, for which Marvell was Member of Parliament.
